Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex has now been confirmed to maintain an account with Dutch bank, ING, this according to reports from both Bloomberg News and Reuters.
According to the media, a representative from ING did confirm the existence of such a Bitfinex account, albeit without sharing any other pertinent information about it due to limitations by confidentiality. Among the little details that the representative did provide, however, was that they did perform “more extensive due diligence” when it comes to transactions by cryptocurrency companies.
“With companies that are active in the crypto market we are very reserved… not with companies that are in traditional markets and receive or do payments with cryptocurrencies, but with parties that are in the chain of cryptocurrencies.”
It remains unknown when the account was opened with ING, although it was previously confirmed to also have had a working relationship with Wells Fargo. It did not last for long though, as Wells Fargo eventually suspended transactions in early 2017.
